1947 Epiphone Triumph Archtop Acoustic Guitar

Regular price $1,599.00

1947 Epiphone Triumph 17 3/8” Archtop Sunburst

Essentially a Masterbuilt Jazz box made by the best craftsman at Epiphone in New York. High-end build quality from 1947, especially the fancy inlays on the rosewood board and headstock, and the original bridge with matching serial number etched on the bottom. Solid maple back and sides, solid spruce top, maple neck. Gibson did not buy Epiphone until 1957 but this guitar has a similar Gibson type open book headstock shape. Sunburst finish. This guitar is loud!

This guitar has an adjustable truss rod under the fingerboard and is accessible under the end of the raised fingerboard. Consequently, the neck is straight with great string action. You can do all those comp’d jazz chords and legato runs on this guitar.

There is a repaired crack the length of the lower bout on the back. About a 2” unrepaired crack on the back below the heel. There are several repaired cracks on the top. The tailpiece is a replacement as are the Grover tuners. A piece of the headstock inlay is missing. Between the fingerboard and the bridge there are a few areas with glue residue from a floating pickup that was attached previously at some point in it’s life.

Comes with a gig bag.
