Fender Custom Shop Rory Gallagher Signature 1961 Stratocaster (2007)
Being huge Rory fans, especially of his critically acclaimed Irish Tour '74 (live) album and his follow up album in 1975 Against The Grain (with a close up picture of his Strat on the cover), we were happy to acquire an earlier (11 years of natural aging) Custom Shop Rory Strat made to the exact specs and condition of his original 1961 Stratocaster (Serial Number 64351). It was originally purchased for collecting purposes and rarely strummed. Some consider the 2000s Custom Shop guitars excellent instruments compared to the team built guitars today.
From Fender's website:
"Fender Custom Shop designers met Donal Gallagher, brother of late great guitarist Rory Gallagher, in Los Angeles in 1997 and received one of the most coveted guitars of all time - Gallagher’s heavily worn 1961 Stratocaster® guitar. Fender initially built 40 replicas for European sale, but was subsequently besieged with requests for more. The Rory Gallagher Tribute Stratocaster guitar is an exact replica of that revered instrument, down to the extremely worn Three-color Sunburst alder body, maple neck and rosewood fingerboard. It even has five Sperzel® tuners and one Gotoh® tuner, and the 12th-fret dot marker is white plastic rather than the original clay. It also features three custom-wound '60s single-coil pickups, aged chrome hardware, 21 medium jumbo frets and a synthetic bone nut. Our homage to a true and truly missed master."
Includes the original brown case with the certificate of authenticity and the other goodies. Speaking with many players, this Signature Edition is considered one of the best of Fender's Artist Models and a great playing and sounding Strat. And it's MINT. (Ha Ha) A Mint Relic!
